My Approach and Practice

My primary role is to offer you a safe space and relationship where you can talk about anything you want without judgement, and feel truly understood.

As an integrative therapist, I am able to draw on several theoretical approaches (including psychodynamic, humanistic or relational) and work flexibly to suit your needs. I am particularly informed by the relational school of thought, neuroscience and attachment theory.

This means that I believe your experiences and relationships, both past and present, are formative to how you have adapted and developed your unique way of being in the world and that how you relate to yourself and others, within your cultural and social context, is central. I work on the premise that healing and change can begin in the relationship between you and me; I aim to provide a new kind of relationship where you can learn more about yourself and how you relate to others and experiment with new ways of being.

What might this look like in practice? As facilitator of your therapeutic journey and a co-explorer of your world, I will give you my complete and respectful attention and will help you to explore, process and make meaning of your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Whilst it may feel counter-intuitive, our emotions, even if very difficult, can help us to reach a place of acceptance, self-understanding and growth.

Sometimes I might invite you to pay attention to what is going on in your body. Sometimes this will involve focusing on your past, present and what you want in your future. This might also include talking about what goes on both outside and inside the therapy room.

No matter how difficult things seem, my intention is to stand alongside you through it all.
